The Mercer Raceabout gave occupants improved protection from the elements and marginal roads of the time with a body that had sides protecting driver’s and passenger’s legs. Fenders were enclosed to the frame to keep stones and dust from being kicked up onto the bodywork and occupants and a full-width flat glass windshield gave added protection, which could also be folded down for high speed runs.

This vehicle was used in car events until the late 1950s when it was tucked away under a tarp for more than 40 years.

Taken at the 2014 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance.
